From 2008 to 2012, SuperPoke! PETS (SPP) existed on the Web as a gaming application for Facebook, MySpace, and the Web. As a player, you could choose any of the above animals as pets, care for them, and provide them with unique items from the SPP Store. For many, SPP was place to unwind, get to know others, and do something more wholesome than what other gaming applications were providing at the time. Some utilized the application as a way to express their artistic talents. It was nice place to visit and nurture a community of friends.
In the summer of 2011, many loyal players became angry and hurt because Google had decided to shutdown the gaming application. Lots of people had invested money into buying SPP's Gold currency and Gold products. Though Google provided a length of time to find another suitable gaming application, the community took their anger to the net and to various parties. With enough notice, Google had the remaining SPP Team provide the users a Flash application (SuperPoke! PETS Lite) that allowed users to download their pets' habitats and revisit them offline. Though a good portion of the community was not satisfied with this gesture, they were unable to stop the inevitable.
Though their servers remained available for a few days after Google closed the site, SuperPoke! PETS ceased to exist on March 7, 2012.
An SPP player named Neil W, during the last few weeks of SPP's life, created the program and website called Habbi Makeover. The program allowed users to view their pets' habitats as well as rearrange items and furniture within the habitat. The site acted as a replacement for those who wanted to keep the SPP community alive.
This web page is a tribute the pets and the community I so enjoyed playing with each day I logged into SPP.
SuperPoke! PETS Forever!
